Mackie Launch SRM1801

May 7th, 2010 by Web Guy

Mackie SRM1801Mackie, the audio equipment manufacturer have announced the release of a new powered (this means it has an amplifier in it) bass speaker cabinet to compliment their highly acclaimed Mackie SRM450 MK2 powered speakers.

The new Mackie SRM1801 powered bass bin has been a long-time coming. I can’t count the amount of customers who have asked, when purchasing Mackie SRM450 speakers, if Mackie have a complimenting bass cabinet – well now, here it is!

As with all Mackie products, this powered bass bin looks like a quality piece of kit. There’s no doubt, and especially since it’s specifically designed for use with the Mackie SRM450, it will sound amazing!

With it’s massive 1000W of output power this means that a set-up with 2x SRM1801 and 2x SRM450 MK2 would be an active powerhouse of a massive 2,800 watts! According to our research, most mobile DJs use a pair of 300w speakers. This means this Mackie system would be 3 and a half times the power a standard DJ would need.

So evidently a system such as this will really appeal to DJs who perform at very large (possibly corporate) events, small to medium sized bands, duos and solo artists. Such a diverse market means that the new Mackie SRM1801 has opened up so many posibilities and we predict that you are likely to see more dj equipment retailers looking to stock the new range of Mackie speakers.

Mackie SRM1801

From Mackie.com:

The Mackie SRM1801 18″ Powered Subwoofer delivers powerful, chest-thumping lows, perfect for your SRM450v2 PA system. The SRM1801 has a ported bass reflex design that produces tight low end. And the lightweight, ultra-efficient Class-D Fast Recovery™ power amplifier delivers 1000W peak power with less risk of thermal overload. This makes the sub extremely lightweight and portable, without compromising the power and performance that you need. It’s the first ever 18″ subwoofer specifically designed for use with the best-selling SRM450v2—add some serious low end to your portable PA with the SRM1801.

SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE THE ROOM

What does 1000W of peak power mean to you? It means having a subwoofer that delivers rump-shaking bass night after night. It means getting class-leading power and output. To accomplish this, the SRM1801 features Class-D Fast Recovery™ amplification. Class-D amps are more efficient and lightweight, with far less waste heat produced versus competing designs. Fast Recovery means you can occasionally push into clipping without a ton of nasty distortion. So, power is no problem… but how does it sound? The SRM1801 benefits from built-in Active electronics, like a precision crossover and tuning filters for accurate bass response. Some subwoofers have decent power, but when you listen, everything sounds loose and flabby. The SRM1801 delivers professional low end that you can feel… custom tuned to be tight and punchy.

WANTED: Web Designer

May 6th, 2010 by Skratchworx
For those of you that have followed my journey from full time employment to full time stressed out money free self employment, you'll remember that part of my repertoire was web design. I've done some work that I've been very proud of - especially the Innofader site. But I closed that business last year and have stopped doing it altogether now. But the Innofader site needs some updating, so I'm looking for a capable webby type person to take it over to permanently.

Ultimax DJ Deck Stand Shelf

May 1st, 2010 by Web Guy

Deck Stand Shelf So after many requests from customers we have finally sourced the Ultimax Shelf for DJ Deck Stands.

DJs have mentioned on many occasions that although the deck stands that most manufacturers make are an excellent idea, the concept could be better – particularly on the top shelf.

So Ultimax addressed this constructive criticism and created their Deck Stand Shelf for 3 different size DJ stands.

So in stock now are the 60cm, 1.2m and 1.7m deck stands for 2ft, 4ft and 6ft deck stands, respectively.

American DJ Introduces WiTech 8 Wireless Controller For Easy Wireless Control Of Up To 8 Lighting Fixtures

April 22nd, 2010 by Web Guy

ADJ WiTech 8 WirelessDJs, bands, bars and clubs now have the opportunity to run light shows from
anywhere in the club or onstage thanks to the American DJ WiTech 8 Wireless controller. An 8-channel lighting controller with an included handheld remote, the WiTech 8 can control up to 8 lighting fixtures wirelessly, making it possible to put on a top-notch lighting event without the need for cumbersome wires that make maneuverability difficult.

With a simple touch of a button, the WiTech 8 easily controls On/Off, All On, Stand By (Blackout), Function and Mode for each channel.  Although it can turn both non-DMX and DMX fixtures On and Off, it does not have DMX capabilities, so the DMX controllability on a light could not be used. Accurate and far-reaching, the handheld wireless remote unit operates from up to 325 feet away, giving entertainers freedom to roam anywhere in the room.

Not only does the easy-to-use WiTech 8 allow DJs and bands to do away with unwieldy wires, but the unit itself is compact, lightweight and affordable. Therefore, The WiTech 8 is a perfect choice for mobile entertainers. Its dimensions are a puny 16.75”L x 4.25”W x 2.5”H and its weight is just 6 lbs.

“The WiTech 8 Wireless controller is the ultimate solution for the working DJ or mobile entertainer who wants to go wireless,” said Scott Davies, General Manager of the American DJ Group of Companies. “You can produce an incredible light show from virtually anywhere in the room. You can put on an amazing performance while entertaining guests on the dance floor for example.

“Just think about it. The WiTech 8 can work a whole football field away from where you mount the actual unit,” he added. “That’s incredible wireless coverage. And you get all of that along with an extremely affordable price point as well.”

Everything about the WiTech 8 Wireless was designed for user convenience. Thanks to the inclusion of a hanging bracket, the WiTech 8 can be mounted on truss, lighting stands, walls or ceilings. That frees up valuable space for all of the other items DJs and bands need.

Also included on the unit is a 1/4–inch connection for input of American DJ’s (optional) UC3 controller (sold separately), and a 16A resettable circuit breaker.  The WiTech 8 Wireless operates on a frequency of 433.9Mhz. Maximum load is 5A per channel, or a total of 15A at a time. The WiTech 8 powers up at 120V/60Hz.

The MSRP of the WiTech 8 Wireless controller, including handheld wireless remote, is $219.95.
